Description

All but forgotten today, Fred Thomson was a silent movie westerner who at one time rivaled 1920s heroes Tom Mix and Hoot Gibson in popularity. Unlike the early, myth-inducing demise of a Rudolph Valentino or Jean Harlow, Fred's untimely death of tetanus prevented the actor, who was at one time billed "The World's Greatest Western Star," from creating a durable Hollywood legacy. This DVD features two classic silent westerns with the rarely-talked-about Fred Thomson in the lead as the hero. THUNDERING HOOFS (1924) The border bandit Severn is after Estrada's money. He not only gets Estrada to promise his daughter to him in marriage but he also convinces him that Dave Marshall is the bandit. When Dave shows up to expose Severn, he is jailed. The only surviving footage of GALLOPING GALLAGHER (1924), also with Fred Thompson, is included.
