This nine-disc box set contains ten classic silent films starring Tom Mix. The son of a lumberman, Tom mix supplied Selig Pictures with cowboys and Indians for movies and, in 1910, Mix was hired by Selig to provide and handle horses. His first movie was RANCH LIFE IN THE GREAT SOUTHWEST (1910). He was later signed by major studios and became the star attraction in a series of his own Cowboy Westerns. This nine-disc box set contains the following movies: In SINGLE SHOT PARKER (1917), Tom Mix plays the role of Jack Parker in this contemporary western with a mix of humor and the wild, wild west. In THE MAN FROM TEXAS (1915), a cowboy gets a message that his sister's husband has left her and she is in trouble. When he gets there, he finds her dead. He sets out to track down the husband. In THE LAW AND THE OUTLAW (1913), the plot chiefly is fairly interesting and Mix's performance is good, but the abundance of inter-titles is a drawback as well as the camera work which in general relies on the medium shot. This is the lengthier version of the two known to exist. In THE THUNDERING HERD (1914), Tom Mix and Sally are the only survivors when their wagon train is attacked by Swift Wing’s braves. Starlight aids in their escape and they join a group of hunters. But there is more trouble when the tribe attacks again. In SKY HIGH (1922), a government agent investigates a ring that is smuggling Chinese aliens across the border from Mexico. His investigation takes him to the Grand Canyon. He finds a dazed girl wandering around who has become separated from her companions and is lost. He and the girl are soon found by her companions - the smuggling ring! In JUST TONY (1922), a cowboy (played by Tom Mix) seeks revenge against the man who shot him in a bar-room brawl. While searching for him, he comes across a wild stallion that he is determined to capture and break, and unknowingly falls in love with the daughter of the man who shot him. In THE LAST TRAIL (1927),the robberies on Jasper Carrol’s stages have been so frequent that the stage line plans to holds a stagecoach race with the winner getting the new contract. Tom foils Cal Barker’s attempt to kill him and gets a confession from him that Kurt Morley is behind the robberies. But first Tom must win the race for Carrol although Morley’s stages have him greatly outnumbered. In TRAILIN’ (1921),Tom Mix is a devil-may-care aristocrat whose father has mysteriously concealed all info about his deceased mother. One day, an old man shows up and shoots Tom’s father dead. The only clue Tom has is a picture of a far-away ranch in Idaho that was hidden away for years in a secret locked room in their mansion. Tom rides out to Idaho, seeking the man who shot his father and the answers to his own furtive past. Also includes three classic film shorts: "Auction Sale of Rundown Ranch" (1915), "Cactus Jim's Shopgirl" (1915) and "Legal Advice" (1916).
